This is a fascinating nostalgia trip to a simpler time, when steam power was “State of the Art” on the farms and lumber mills of America. The Darke County Steam Threshers 39th Annual Reunion in Greenville, Ohio, is the setting for this video. You’ll see how these folks lovingly restore, preserve, and operate these magnificent old machines. You’ll watch the Darke County crew thresh wheat the old fashioned way, with a steam engine backed into the belt on the separator. Over at the “Big Mill” you’ll watch the crew cut logs into lumber, on a mill powered by steam. You’ll watch a big Baker “Counter Flow” engine develop over 120 horsepower on the Prony Brake! We’ll even show you some modern “Super Stock” diesel tractors in the tractor pull.
