The Guayaquil & Quito Railroad
The Guayaquil & Quito Railroad
In 1988, Berkshire Productions traveled to Ecuador, South America to visit the 3’6” gauge of the Guayaquil & Quito Railroad. This is one of the world’s most fantastic railroad lines, running from sea level to over 11,000 feet.
This is narrow gauge railroading at its best! Baldwin built 2-6-0’s and 2-8-0’s are the motive power and they put on quite a show working up the 5% grades of the Andes Mountains.
You’ll see some of the most spectacular railroad footage ever recorded. Tunnels, bridges, and snow-capped volcanoes, they’re all here. And if that’s not enough, our Alco powered diesel trip suffers a derailment.
Line-side runbys, breath-taking scenery and lots of railroad action make this video a must for every video library.
Digitally re-mastered, this video brings you an hour and a half of mountain steam action on the G&Q Railroad!
